 COUNSELLING

How counselling can help.

Living with depression, anxiety or low mood can sometimes make it hard to know where to turn for support. If you are not comfortable talking to your friends and family, you may turn to a professional.

Along with CBT, I can offer Energy Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Person Centered Counselling and Solution Focussed Brief Therapy.

CBT is a type of talking therapy. It aims to help you manage problems by enabling you to recognise how your own thoughts can affect your feelings and behaviour.

CBT combines a cognitive approach (examining your thoughts) with a behavioural approach (the things you do). It aims to break overwhelming problems down into smaller parts, making them easier to manage.

Cognitive behavioural therapy has become one of the most popular forms of talking therapy.

It is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for common mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety.

Energy EFT works by releasing blockages within the energy system which are the source of negative emotional intensity and discomfort. These blockages in our energy system, in addition to challenging us emotionally, often lead to limiting beliefs and behaviours and an inability to live life harmoniously. This results in either emotional and/ or physical symptoms and can include lack of confidence and self-esteem, OCD, fear, feeling stuck, anxiety, depression, compulsive and addictive behaviours.

An Energy EFT treatment involves the client tapping on themselves, with their fingertips, near the end points of their  “energy meridians” located around the body.

The treatment is non-invasive and does not involve needles . Energy EFT works on the ethos of making change as simple and as pain free as possible.

During  treatment I will work with you and help you focus on the "here and now". This will help you recognise how past events may have shaped your thinking and behaviours.

Counselling aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable.

It provides a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings.

As a counsellor I am there to support you and respect your views.

I won't usually give advice, but will help you find your own insights into and an understanding of your problems.
